My doctor increased my dose of metformin and I am getting terrible stomach ache when I take it. Do you have any suggestions?
Stomach aches from metformin are common in some patients. Taking metformin after meals, with the last bite of a meal, can lower the incidents of stomach pain. If the stomach ache continues please talk your provider. The dose may have to be reduced or your provider may switch you to a different medication to treat your diabetes.
