Individuals with High Blood pressure should be tested for Diabetes, as they tend to go hand in hand. Others that should be tested include those that have two or more of the following risk factors: over the age of 45, BMI >25, African American, Hispanic, Native American, Asian, Family history: your mom, dad, or siblings have diabetes, you have a history of Gestational Diabetes, you have a history of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Get your fasting glucose tested, two or more tests of 100-125 mg/dl would be considered pre-diabetes, 126mg/dl two or more times would be considered diabetes. A1c levels 5.7-6.4% would be considered pre-diabetes, and 6.5% or higher would be considered diabetes.
