My sugar is unusually high for no reason that I can understand. I didn't eat anything different and haven't changed anything. I am not sure what the problem is. Can you help?
An individual with diabetes can have high blood sugar levels for many reasons. Blood sugar levels can rise even if you eat the same foods, but eat larger portions of these foods. Also, blood sugar can increase if you used to exercise (walk, climb stairs) and recently you are doing less exercise than before. In addition, using a medication past it’s expired date can lead to blood sugars being elevated. I have had patients whose blood sugar was affected by changes in sleep patterns or dehydration in the summer months. I would recommend that you consult with your provider. If your blood sugar levels are much different than usual, your provider may have to run tests to determine the root cause of the problem.
