A woman on insulin and older in age can have a child. Issues of fertility may have to be addressed if there are difficulties in conception. However, with regard to diabetes, as long as blood sugar levels are maintained according to recommendations made by your provider, I don’t see a problem with having diabetes and trying to conceive. During pregnancy, blood glucose levels tends to rise. It's important to do more frequent monitoring of blood glucose and adjusting the doses of insulin as to ensure stable and controlled blood glucose levels.
