I like to eat fruit but my blood sugar goes up when I eat fruit. Is there a specific fruit that I can eat that will not increase my blood sugar. I inject insulin 3 times a day and want to keep my sugar under control
All fruits contain fructose that does affect blood sugar; however, eating smaller quantities of fruit like grapes or eating a single apple or orange can have less of an effect on blood sugar. You should also monitor your blood sugar when eating fruit, and if your blood sugar is too high after injecting insulin, you should consult with your provider and discuss the dose of insulin.
